One of the lip sync videos I made eventually led me to run for president with just the slogan “Мы здесь не ходим!” (We do not walk here!) taken out of its silly context which was some form of détournement.

It was 2019, when no one in Belarus expected changes or trusted elections. My performance, which was unexpectedly stretched in time and online and offline space, was not a rehearsal of elections, but rather a critisism and defiance of the deceitful rules of dictatorship: I offered people the only possible elections in which they and I were eager to participate.

It was a very interesting experience of culture jamming for me. And when the situation got out of my control I only watched the events unfold and became a spectator rather than a creator of this campaign.
