Vasily Pochitsky (dr. Klein)

1967 – 2024

Avant-garde artist, musician, director.

Pochitsky is an extremely individual person, for him absolutely any plot can become a topic for reflection and further creative implementation. The originality of this man is confirmed by many recent exhibitions in Minsk.

Like any self-respecting artist, Vasily Pochitsky found his own approach to depicting reality. Life for him is a card game in which nothing is known until the very end. And it is very important that the artist depicts his reality, passing through the prism of worldly wisdom, savvy with subtle humor.

The artist is a participant in numerous exhibitions, including an exhibition at the UN Headquarters, his work was sold at Sotheby's, and his paintings are in private collections and museums in the United States, Canada, Russia, Great Britain, Germany, France, Israel, Ireland, Turkey and Poland.

Lives and works in Minsk.

2009

The Rechitsa Renaissance Foundation presented 37 works at the Rumyantsev and Paskevich Palace. Among them - a series of grotesque compositions from the realm of the absurd.

The artist about his practice:

"I'm a genius and that's a big responsibility."

“At first there were people in the caricatures, but if you draw people today, then there will be many lawsuits. If you draw someone’s nose or ear the wrong way, he will immediately drag you to court. They will start talking about insults, everyone loves to sue newspapers, journalists It's easier with hares."

"Although hares are also different in my drawings: scientists, policemen, bandits, there are beardless and beardless ones. And not all hares are cowards. it depends on the character. According to some even external signs, you can find the main, most courageous hare in my caricatures. But my caricatures are kind, I'm not an evil artist. I like soft folk humor. You can write evil on the neighbor's fence, but I don't like this And be sure all the drawings and paintings should carry energy in themselves, and not just hang somewhere in the kitchen to no avail. In one bank they hung my picture and for a long time they could not understand what was happening in the room: vases fall, glasses break, out of hand everything falls down. And then they realized that the reason is in the energy that comes from my picture. "

"It's all from the people! Just turn on the TV and listen! In our country, every second one speaks Trasyanka. This is the truth of life, not fiction. It is no coincidence that some phrases from my drawings are even written by people in toilets. Previously, there were a lot of cartoons in Soviet periodicals Many people took a newspaper in their hands and first of all looked at the funny drawings. But now people either do not want to laugh, or they are afraid. It’s somehow more fun with animals. Or maybe someday again in our society they will laugh at themselves and in Will we see people again in cartoons?"

"Hares are very important and symbolic animals. In the East it is a symbol of happiness and good luck, in China it is longevity, in Christianity it is fertility, in Egypt it is the human principle. Among the American Indians, the hare is the creator and keeper, in the Celtic epic it is an attribute of deities, in ancient culture, it symbolizes licentiousness and lust. But in our folklore, hares are always cowardly. But they, like many Belarusians, are not only cowardly, but also with cunning, a little rustic and mow in two directions, so that they and this. And our hares are still stupid ... A smart hare is only in "Well, wait a minute!".
