I place Catholic votive gifts (ex-voto or milagro) in boxes on the facades of houses in Berlin's Neukölln neighbourhood. They used to house vending machines selling cigarettes and other small things, but now the frames are empty. I use votive objects to turn them into altars, creating a kind of allegory of an escape to a new spirituality from consumer society.
