Gennadz Zmudzinsky

1898 – 1938

Artist, one of the founders of Belarusian Soviet book graphics.

A native of Russia, Gennady Zmudinsky conducted his active creative work in Belarus. One of the founders of the school of book graphics in Belarus, author of many illustrations for children's books, school textbooks, and posters for state publishing houses. Also worked in computer graphics. Author of posters, political cartoons, bookplates, participant in the First World War and the Civil War.

Lived and worked in Minsk.

After serving in the Red Army, the artist moved to Minsk and works in the editorial office of the newspaper "Kolkhoznik".

September 20, 1938

As an "agent of the Polish secret services" he was sentenced to death.

September 22, 1938

The sentence was carried out and the artist was shot. Buried in Minsk.

October 29, 1957

Posthumously rehabilitated by the BVI Military Tribunal.
