pARTisanka

Almanac of modern Belarusian culture

"pARTisanka" is an initiative that arose on the basis of the pARTisan project in 2019, when the first issue of pARTisanka (or #34 in a series) was published, created by a team of female artists, curators, researchers and activists.

The purpose of this edition is not only to mark a symbolic turn of the "pARTisan" project itself, but a sign that the discourse of contemporary art in Belarus and the public field in general is changing. This is an attempt to answer the question of how we, a certain community, imagine feminism in Belarus, and in what direction we see its development.

"When you become a feminist, you quickly realize that what you are trying to stop, some do not recognize as existing." Sarah Ahmed, from an article by Almira Usmanova.

The number included texts by: Tania Arcimovich, Olga Shparaga, Almira Ousmanova, Antonina Stebur, Volha Maslouskaya, Tania Siatsko, Lesya Pcholka, Volha Hapeeva, Olga Bubich, Inha Lindarenka, Lizaveta Mikhalchuk, Safia Sadouskaya, Julia Cimafejeva, Valzhina Mort, Anna Karpenko, Olga Romanova, Kateryna Ruskevich, Alexander Pershai. The design was developed by Antanina Slabodchikava together with Nastya Stalmakhava.
