The festival was initiated by the Belarusian photography community and is being held for the first time. The program consists of two parts: educational and competitive.
We maintain a focus on Belarusian photography and believe it's important to maintain both our involvement in the international art scene and continuity as a factor in the preservation and development of national culture. The history of Belarusian photography has already seen periods when cultural ties between generations of artists were disrupted. Over the past few years, events have led to a new rift. The Belarusian photography community has found itself in a situation where many respected and established artists have left, and those who remain face restrictions both within the country and from the outside world.
This year's educational component of the festival aims to preserve the potential of Belarusian photography, nurtured by numerous projects and initiatives over the past 10-15 years. We strive to support and develop the community of independent Belarusian photographers both domestically and internationally, promote Belarusian photography in Europe, preserve visual heritage, and foster the development of contemporary photographic culture in Belarus.
At the same time, we believe that culture and the art world know no boundaries. Therefore, the festival's competitive section is international, and one of its nominations is open to all authors, regardless of their place of residence.
