Artist, sculptor.

He worked in the areas of monumental art, painting and graphics.

During the Great Patriotic War, he changed his graphic design and took part in the design of the poster-newspaper "Let's Crush the Fascist Gadzina".

In addition to creativity, he actively participated in social and political life. He was a member of the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks, and later - Deputy Chairman of the Republican Peace Committee.

Born in the village of Molchany (Russian Empire, now within the village of Zastadolye, Senno district of the Vitebsk region of the Republic of Belarus) into a Jewish family.

1921-1922

He studied at Yudel Pan 's private studio.

Graduated from the Belarusian Art College (now the Vitebsk Art College).

1925-1928

He studied at the Artistic and Technical Institute in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg).
