"Minskgermansky", a Belarusian-German group of artists, was founded in Minsk in the summer of 1998. After initial contacts via the Internet and e-mail, the first joint exhibition was organized on a website in Minsk. This first project was already supported by the Federal Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany.

In Berlin, the number of participants increased from 9 to 18. The artists represented at the exhibition Minskunderstandings live in Berlin, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Kassel, Cologne, Leipzig, Minsk, Munich and Weimar. The exhibition in Berlin took place in the halls of a former Jewish cigarette factory (1,500 sq. m.) in September 1999. Before the opening of the exhibition, the artists spent 10 days together in the former industrial factory, where they successfully conveyed their ideas to the public.
