Artist, teacher.

Born into a family of Russian artists. At the age of 38 he moved to Belarus. He worked in the genres of thematic paintings, portraits, painted landscapes, still lifes. Belonged to the realistic school.

Born in the city of Yelets, Oryol province (now the Lipetsk region of the Russian Federation), in a family of Russian artists. Since childhood, he grew up among paintings and artists, the album did not leave his hands, it contained sketches, copies.

1901–1907

He studied at the Penza Art College.

1907–1915

He continued his education at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts.

1911–1920

He was a member of various art groups: "The Society of Independents", the Committee of the Artistic Association, the "Community of Artists".

1919

Moved to Belarus .

1919–1929

He taught at the People's Art School in the city of Velizh (now the city of Velizh, Smolensk region in Russia), then at the Vitebsk Art College. Since that time, Volkov's whole life has been connected with Belarus.

1925

At the First Republican Exhibition in Moscow, he presented a number of portraits, landscapes, theatrical sketches, thematic compositions, painted by artists in Belarus.

1926

He took part in the competition for the creation of the Belarusian coat of arms and won it. He designed the railway station at the Negoreloye station, the multi-figured frieze "October in Bearus" in the pavilion of the BSSR at the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition in Moscow.

1940

He became a member of the Union of Soviet Artists of the BSSR .

1947-1957

He continued his teaching activities at the Minsk Art School, later as a professor at the Belarusian Theater and Art Institute (now the Belarusian State Academy of Arts), where he headed the department of academic drawing .

1955

He received the title of People's Artist of the BSSR , was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor and medals.

December 8, 1964

Died in Minsk.
