1940

Born in the village of Popovshchina , Mogilev Region . Alexey spent all his childhood surrounded by books thanks to his father, who worked as a rural librarian. The boy was especially interested in books with illustrations, and he also liked the Ogonyok magazine, in each issue of which reproductions of paintings by famous artists were placed.

1962

Graduated from the art and graphic faculty of the Vitebsk Pedagogical Institute . “There, young people, they gave us wings ,” says the artist, recalling his art teachers Dezhitsa, Stolyarov, Klikushin. The diploma work was done in the spirit of socialist realism, which dominated art in those years - on the canvas, young builders of communism are enthusiastically repairing the road.

1964

Finished military service in the military unit in Pecs. He learns that a new school No. 4 is opening in neighboring Zhodino. The director of the school met a young teacher and offered to conduct drawing and labor education, invited his wife Alexei, a biology teacher, to work, and so that young specialists would not change their minds, he allocated them a small office for temporary residence directly at school.

1972

He graduated from the Belarusian Theater and Art Institute (now the Academy of Arts ) in the department of painting, on the course of Ivan Akhremchik.

One of the founders and the first head of the artistic association "Pagonya" .

1975

He begins his teaching career at the Academy of Arts .

1982–1986

He is the chief artist of the Art Fund of Belarus .

1990–1996

He heads the department of painting at the Academy of Arts .

1996

Takes part in the 2nd Republican exhibition of young artists of the BSSR . It presented a work of small size, with a simple title "In Winter". It was written in Zhodino. Kirill Zelenny really liked the painting, and the artist, yielding to the request, gave the work and later regretted it more than once, and meeting a friend, asked her to make a copy. And today Aleksey Antonovich recalls: “I’m so copying a slave, that it’s a piece of garbage . For many years this work has taken its place in the soul of the artist and in his studio.

1992

Awarded the Francysk Skaryna Medal .

1989, 1995

Personally refused the titles of "Honored Artist of the BSSR" and "Honored Artist of Belarus" as a protest against state control over art and against Lukashenka's policies.

The artist exhibits at prestigious venues in Minsk and abroad. His works are kept in the museums of Belarus, Poland, Great Britain, USA.
