Kazimierz Alchimowicz

artist

1840 – 1916

Alchimowicz is considered one of the last Belarusian and Polish artists of the romantic direction. He painted pictures on historical and mythological themes, landscapes of Lithuania and the Tatras, religious canvases, genre scenes. Exhibited in Warsaw, Munich, Odessa, Krakow, Vienna. His painting "The Funeral of Gediminas" (1888) won awards twice. In addition to painting, the artist was fond of painting porcelain and faience, as well as woodcarving. A large number of works by K. Alhimowicz are stored in the Warsaw National Museum. The elder brother of the artist Hyacinth Alchimowicz.

He lived and worked mainly in Warsaw.
