Articles on KALEKTAR

The idea for the project arose when the Bondarovichs discovered that their children had synesthesia - a perceptual feature in which an impact on one sense organ causes a reaction in another. Individual sounds and even words are painted in certain colors in their heads. Sergey developed the Likhtar device and wrote a mobile application with which blind children learn to draw.

"We thought that we could do the opposite - associate colors with sounds. The device allows you to read colors and reproduce the corresponding sounds. The basis is 12 colors (tones and halftones). Each color corresponds to a specific sound. During operation, the device glows (likhtar - lantern), and we want our Likhtar to illuminate colors for people with visual impairments.

The goal of the project is not only to teach blind children to draw, but also to give them the opportunity to earn money in the future doing what they love. We also want to improve the device so that it can be used by blind people in everyday life."

The studio organized two exhibitions of works by blind people, and also took part in the Autumn Salon exhibition with Belgazprombank (2021).
