Artist, graphic artist, author of paintings on the theme of historical Belarusian plots and illustrations for the works of Belarusian writers and poets. Works mainly in the field of book graphics, in the technique of linocut, etching, color lithography.

He was awarded the medal of the 100th anniversary of the Belarusian People's Republic of the Rada of the Belarusian People's Republic. The works of M.S.Basalyga are kept in the museums of the cities of the Republic of Belarus, public and private collections of other states.
