Dawid Jakerson

1896 – 1947

David Aronovich Yakerson, sculptor, graphic artist, designer. He was a member of the creative association "UNOVIS" ("Approvers of the New Art"). In 1919–1921, he directed a sculpture workshop at the Vitebsk People's Art School. Participated in the design of Vitebsk for the First Anniversary of the October Revolution, as well as in the implementation of the plan of monumental propaganda in Vitebsk and the province.

He studied with Yudel Pan in Vitebsk together with his future wife Elena Kabischer, studied there at the Commercial School.

Studied at VKHUTEMAS.

Participated under the leadership of Marc Chagall in the design of Vitebsk for the First Anniversary of the October Revolution.

July 1919

Marc Chagall invited Yakerson to direct the sculpture workshop at the Vitebsk People's Art School.

1926 to 1931

Yakerson actively worked in the Moscow Society of Russian Sculptors, exhibiting his works at exhibitions of this only association of plastic masters in Russian art.
