Sea Heals

Elena Rabkina, Aleksandr Yuriev 2022
"Sea Heals" tells the story of Belarusian refugees who sought solace in Odessa in late 2020-2022. Fleeing persecution after the 2020 protests, over many individuals chose Ukraine, doubling as their refuge. This visual chronicle explores the profound transformation and spiritual evolution experienced by the Belarusian Diaspora. The sea, a prominent backdrop, symbolizes the soothing essence of Odessa, providing a backdrop for respite and renewal. In this compelling narrative, Viktoria, Margo,  Nadya, Rita and Olga become the embodiment of hope and resilience. As Belarusian culture suggests, the sea heals, prompting a poignant question—how much time is needed to mend these never-closed wounds?
