SOIL SALT FLOUR

Arthur Komarovsky 2023
Tbilisi

I left my native country more than two years ago. Do I miss it? Unlikely. Do I miss any places or people? Maybe. When I thought about the phrase missing the country (because people usually ask this question to those who have left), I realized that everything rests on the concept of home. The house is like a specific place where you can sit on the sofa and hold the cat on your lap, the house is like a building that you look for when you return from somewhere.

However, all these definitions were insufficient. I wanted to understand what a home is – as a concept. Or, conversely, whether and how it can be associated with physical sensations. What is that feeling? I was looking for an answer for myself for a long time until one day I accidentally stumbled upon the metaphor of the house: flour. Later, salt and soil were added to it. I realized that these substances are a good metaphor not only for home as a concept, but also for home as a physical sensation.

Since the house is usually about the family, it will be a performance that every viewer can join – so together, we will try to regain our home through sensations, or at least think about what this word means to each of us.
