Katerina Geiduka

1986

An artist whose practice is closely linked to ceramics and its various materials.

"My artistic practice is a process of self-exploration and transformation. I explore women's identity and migration experiences through myths, personal stories and archetypes. My visual language is childhood memories, mythological motifs, fairy tales. My work intersects female pleasure, feminism and fantasy. I return to female archetypes as an ancient code in order to understand my history and bodily memory through it. In my installations, the goal is to create visual spaces where vision can encounter vulnerability and strength at the same time".

She has participated in competition exhibitions, symposiums and residencies in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Ukraine, Poland, Romania, Hungary, Germany, Great Britain, Turkey, China and Korea; she is one of five artists representing Latvia in the International Academy of Ceramics.

Lives and works in Riga, Latvia.
