Maxim Dosko 2011 – 2012
The project exists in the form of seven albums.

Project description:

We can confidently say that photography is tightly and inextricably linked by its nature, among other things, with time. It makes it possible to approach the realization of what place the past occupies in the flow of time. This is most clearly tangible with the help of the snapshot technique, where the print is ready immediately, here and now, at the shooting location, the time distance between the impression of what was seen before pressing the shutter and receiving the finished image is reduced. The immediacy, materiality, one-stage nature of an instantaneous imprint makes it possible to capture the essence of the past.

Stopped time, as it seems to me, is not in the photographs. There is a stopped, imprinted moment, but the time for this moment is not calculated by simple concepts of past, is, will be. Such an instant of reality captured in the picture is an active substance, the essence of which is outside of time, precedes and then afteracts, vectorially directed forward and backward. The stopped moment is as real, and most importantly functional, as what we see happening now. This "active past" continues to exist, act and influence what is happening and will be in the future. It looks at us from photographs and seems to peer into us, is interested in us, in the present, in its continuation even more than we are interested in it.

However, time works in photography and photography ceases to be just an image when there is a direct connection with what is shot, that is, when something or someone in the frame is not just recognizable by us, but familiar and close. Time is deeply woven into ourselves.

All my photographs exist for me not just as pictures and proof of the fact of what I saw and photographed, but as moments forever imprinted in my memory that "live" on a par with what is visible in the present, now and allow you to keep in touch with the moment of reality. Therefore, photography is so valuable to me - I can "grab" a piece of reality, leaving it to myself forever as it was, as I saw and felt it. These moments are so precious to me that I want to share them, show them to others, this is my world, this is a part of me.
