A dynamic encyclopedia of contemporary Belarusian art based on the KALEKTAR research platform. Editor-in-chief and founder of the encyclopedia: Sergey Shabokhin.

The Encyclopedia is specifically designed as a key tool for organizing and constructing an archive of contemporary Belarusian art, bringing together all the individual projects of the KALEKTAR platform. The data system is filled in according to the principle of an Internet encyclopedia in the form of autonomous information pages about names, documents, works, key events and institutions in the system of contemporary Belarusian art. A terminological glossary is also being developed. All terms are structured alphabetically, by year, by category, and by tags.

A large number of experts and participants in the system of Belarusian art, as well as a team of volunteers, are involved in the activities of the encyclopedia.

Resource structure:

Names: search by persons, groups and institutions. The list is sorted alphabetically.

Events: search by events and event programs. The list is sorted by year.

Works: search by works of art and series or cycles of works. The list is sorted by year.

Documents: search by documents (catalogues, photos, videos and other evidence). The list is sorted by year.

Terms: search by terms (phenomena, themes, etc.). The list is sorted alphabetically.

Internet portal kalektar.org was developed by Sergey Shabokhin and Hainter Active studio and officially presented in Minsk.

May 6, 2015

The INDEX encyclopedia based on the KALEKTAR portal was developed and officially presented.

2020

A decision was made and a project was launched to reorganize the platform and portal with the support of the platform partner of the Rönne Stiftung Foundation from Berlin.

November 20, 2021

A new platform site with a new INDEX encyclopedia was officially presented. The new portal was developed by the artist Maxim Tyminko, who reorganized the encyclopedia into a modern and user-friendly database. The new portal was implemented with the support of the Federal Foreign Office, Civil Society Cooperation and the Rönne Stiftung Foundation.
