The Museum of Contemporary Fine Arts is one of the youngest museum structures in Belarus today. In September of the same year, Vasily Sharangovich, director of the museum, was appointed Minister of Culture of the Republic of Belarus. For many years he headed the department of graphics, later - the rector of the Belarusian State Theater and Art Institute, now the Belarusian State Academy of Arts. The collection of the museum today is four and a half thousand items, the total area of the exhibition halls is 260 m2. In general, the creation of a new type of museum, as an exhibition and information center, where new searches in contemporary art would find not only reflection, but also art criticism, is an important link in the expansion and development of the cultural space of the republic. In the course of the museum's activities, its main directions were formed: collecting a collection, studying the modern pictorial process in all its stylistic diversity, the difference in forms and trends, holding conferences and symposiums, plein airs of contemporary art and a number of other projects. The main task of the museum is the scientific acquisition of the museum collection. The definition of the range and scope of the stock collection is contained in the name of the Museum. Therefore, the formation of the collections of the Museum of Contemporary Fine Arts is carried out, first of all, based on the time frame - works of art, which are fundamental for the formation and development of modern types, styles and trends. The collection should reflect the entire palette of the development of contemporary art, all types that exist now, whether it be avant-garde, realistic or conceptual art.
